Group 9!! (got this photo frm Juin Yi) "OUG", say these 3 alphabets to a St John member that has attended it and watch their eyes light up and they start talking about how fun it was. This year's OUG theme was about CHILDHOOD.. " I am childish, So What?" was written in big words over our T-shirt.
I reached early today morning and met Wan Ying and Jie Hui. We went to the registration counter to register, get our shirts and group numbers. They coudn't find my group so I had to wait for awhile. While waiting, we helped Wan Tching let the students from SK play a game to avoid them from being bored because the waiting was long. The game was like that: 3 students have to form a group and blindfold themselves. Then they must take a pair of chopsticks and walk to a bowl full of red, green and yellow(?) beans. the 1st one says the type of bean he wants, for example red bean, if he manage to get that bean, he wins.the other two persons have to choose different types of beans. Wan Ying was in charge of them playing, Jie Hui was in charge of the triangular bandages/blindfolds, and i had the task of directing them, blindfoloded after playing the game to the registration counter, which is about 5 meters away. Then, i got my group number. It was 3, same as Xin Yu and Jia Foo.
We all went into the school hall aand sat down on the chairs. A moment later, I was changed to group 9. This year's organizing chaiperson is Brenda. Vice: Wai Yi and Sok Kuan. Thats all i remembered. My group leader was Jia Yinn, and we had 9 persons in our group, which is such a coincidence. The games started after we were given a map of where to go.
Our first checkpoint was at Wan Tching's, where we had to take the comittee's photos and match them with the photos of when they were children. Pei Er's was the easiest to recognise..she hasn't changed a bit. Our group won. We had 5 points which was 1 point more than the other group. I think the commitees there had a lot of fun splashing them with buckets of water.
At the second checkpoint we had to "play" basketball while kneeling on a mat. Group 5 competed with us. We were near winning when half of the time passed, but Group 5 changed their "main" player into Brandon. I was like "BRANDON?! He's so tall.." Since then, their group was scoring alot of points, We were splashed this time.
Third checkpoint was at Queenie's, where we have to play "pass the porridge while telling the next person some baby words which were written on a paper untill the words reaches the "baby" sitting on a chair at the end. The group member that was the "baby" had to eat a spoonful of cold porridge and say the words. The porridge was passed using spoons stuck in our mouth, so i wondered if anyone's saliva dripped inside the porridge.. Our group WON AGAIN!!! and the group who lost had to eat a mixture of cold porridge, chilli sauce and tomato sauce..eww..
Fourth checkpoint was at Vei Lynn and Elaine's. We were given a photo that shows the comittee members wearing different types of clothes, had to memorise them and run to the back to get those clothes and wear them. I chose Pei Er's one, con sisting of a orange tee and blue track bottom. I coudn't find those clothes. That time, i didn't know that we had to follow the clothes pei er was wearing UNDER her t-shirt. Luckily, Elaine helped me. turns out pei er was wearing SUPER loose pants and a baby sized skirt. I coudn't cram that shirt on, so i just put it on a little, something like a scarf. Someone told me it looked like a napkin.
Fifth checkpoint was at Sok Kuan and Pei Er's where we played musical chairs with Group 5 again. Brandon and Caleb(the only guy in our group) were "disturbers".We had to tie our ankles together, two by two. I'll tell you the amusing story abiout Brandon. He was pushed away from the chair onto the floor while snatching Jia Yinn's place. Everyone laughed like crazy, including Sok Kuan. The next time, he was afraid to snatch their place again. Instead, he was aimimh at Me & Jie Hui's place. I understood how hard Jia Yinn fought for her seat because, at the point when the music stopped, We sat down and were knocked by Brandon. That was kinda unfair because he half snatched and, he was alot heavier than i was ( no offence). I Shuen was helping too, and we were being attacked by both sides. It ended with us three falling down.I was squashing Brandon an Jie Hui..sorry..but couldn't stand up. i tried two times. Thanks Sok Kuan for coming to my rescue, trying to get up with one of my ankle tied up was harder than it seemed. We had no punishment..YEAH~~
Last checkpoint was at Shi hui's, where we had to climb under tables and do stuff written on a paper. She was nice to let us go inside the hall early, it was beggining to get hot. After footdrill and photograph session, it was LUNCHTIME! Lunch was a packet of nasi lemak, a cup of lychee drink and a plate of Fried bihun wan ying's mum cooked. I LOVE the fried bihun!! Hmm...maybe wan ying can teach me how to cook it..
Time for games! First, we played a game. two people, one front, one back. The front one reaches her hand behind, over her shoulders and the one behind holds it. Then, we had to sing a song. It was like" ...left...right, ..on and on..turn half..new fren.." wadever. the ... are words i forgot..If anyone is interested inplayong these games you can ask our comittee for these songs. I was the person behind. The person behind had to move forward and forward, switching partners. When i came to a small line of guys i was shocked. They. Are. Hyper. And they had to choose this time to turn the song in to "hop" version. I was dead tired after this game. Then, there was another game, which i don't know how to explain, and the USJ 13 students taught us a new clapping method. NICE~~
Lastly, everyone was given a piece of manilla card to hang on their necks, turned to their backs for other people to write ob them. I loved the wishes everyone wrote on mine. Except ZX's SAMPAT phrase. After taking photos of each group, I went back home..

"Don't ever let yourself believe that the role you play in the lives of other's is not an important one, especially in the lives of the ones you love and who love you. Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
