Kejohanan Unified Taekwondo
Sunday, July 4, 2010

My third time going to public duty. Kejohanan Unified Taekwondo is held at SK Seri Selangor, USJ 4. Elaine told us to arrive at 7.30 am, but knowing "St John" time, me and Pei Er arrived at 7.12am. No one was there except for 2 contestants. Walked aound the school with jie Hui when she arrived. There were alot of St John members on duty today. Shift 1: me, Pei Er, Wan Ying, Jie Hui, Sheng Yao, Hoover, Queenie and Shi Hui. Sok Kuan, Wan Tching and Elaine arrived later for shift 2.

After dumping our bags in a corner, we split out to make sure we had every inch of the dewan covered. Queenie, Jie Hui and Wan Ying were at box A, Hoover and Sheng Yao at base, which is in front of box B, me and Pei Er at box C. The participants were briefed and the event started at 9.15 a.m. Me and Pei Er were all up for supporting our fellow Seafieldians. I recognised a few of them, Brandon whom i know from koperasi, Chun Ken who helped us carry the stretcher once and Kai Wen from 2C. Oh, and there's Wan Ying's so called "supporter", the guy who claims he's from St Mary everytime i go to his class to look for St John members. xD

Pei Er had nothing better to do than tell Sok Kuan and Hoover about me and create things so the innnocent me was questioned by Sok Kuan "aiya..? who ah?" and Hoover " eh, who?who? tell la.. at least Pei Er is honest". Pei Er you're so bad la.. I'M INNOCENT!!! ...ish..

Our first casualty was a boy around 8-9 years old, named Ming Han (if I'm not mistaken). His finger was injured from blocking his opponent's kick. He won, and according to Wan Ying, he did really well. He's really adorable as he always wears a smile on his face.

Halfway through the game there was a casualty. While treating him he asked what school were we from. "SEAFIELD" we answered. Turns out that he was a Seafieldian too, from 5J. The hilarious part was when Sok Kuan passed by. "Who's that?" he asked. "Our senior" "Does she have a boyfriend?" he joked. We all cracked up laughing.

I've never seen a taekwondo competition before, so I'm glad Elaine asked me to come for this duty. I savoured everypart of it. I saw unsuppressed anger, powerful kicks, determination, pain, joy. I disliked the part where the girls fight each other. My eyes just couldn't bear the images of girls fighting. It doesn't seem..normal.. I tried to avoid that part but I had to look out for casualties. I just stared at them in horror. And there was a guy who was in unbearable frenzy as he was pushed out of the area thrice by his opponent. He could not control his emotions and kicked his opponent non stop. Ow. That'd hurt. Luckily his opponent managed to dodge away as his mind was clear.

Today, I learned about perseverance, determination and bravery. Perseverance was seen in a game when both of the conestants were badly injured, one had muscle cramp, and I think the other guy sprained his leg. Both of them continued without a complain. Determination is very clearly seen in some of the contestant's face. I love that look. It says " I'm never gonna give up. I'm going to do it no matter what". Of what I'd seen, a determined person's face looks like this: no smile, eyes gleaming, deep in concentration and strategies. I wonder if that look is ever seen on my face. Almost everyone says that i look as if I'm daydreaming. Do I? I always get blamed for daydreaming when I'm concentrating hard. What can I do? I'm born like that. Bravery was seen when we applied slight pressure when compressing ice on a 9 year old boy, and he didn't even wince. Not once. wow.

Congratulations to the Seafieldians who won. And to those who lose, You were really good. It's just that your opponent is slightly better. Win or lose, it doesn't matter. You tried your best and gained experience. YOU GUYS WERE AWESOME~~ :DD

P.S. According to Jay Sern i saw him but didn't recognise him.. sorry lah Jay Sern.. I very blur one.. Anyways I saw you last month.. I think i can recognise you if i meet you.. wad colour you wore? red or blue?
