This year, our charity trip is held at Rumah Victory - Elderly/Youth Home. The president of this charity trip is none other than- Melanie. Comittee members include Ming Yii, Lick Yin, Cheng Yi etc.
Reached school at 8.40 a.m. There was 15 people in this trip, including me. I am sad to say that I am the only form 2 girl to go on this trip as my beloved friends Pei Er, is sick, Wan Ying, at another camp, Jie Hui, absent. Ok.. I began to dread this trip. Alot of members are absent this charity trip.. Seems like they went on holiday or something. Last year's was merrier.. Cause I had Wan Ying, Sook Wei and Vanessa..lets see.. Alot of seniors were present last trip. While in this trip, there were alot of Form 1 members.
Our bus driver kinda got lost.. And we ended up at a school in Puchong.. Batu Lapan, if i'm not mistaken. Luckily we went on the right path after a call to the Home. When we arrived there, it was really merry. Elderly and youth home.. There are mostly elderly people and teenagers and if i'm not mistaken, only one child. We started off with an introduction. Then, we played a game, with ming Yii explaining in Cantonese, chinese and Hokkien. Poor Ming Yii, she was made fun of by us as she translated or spoke something innacurately in Chinese. Laughing it off, she managed to get everyone in the room to understand the game eventually.
The first game is 'match the card'. The members and those living in the home has to get one card each. On the members (our) cards are a picture, and on the cards of those living in the home has an answer and a picture related to our card. I looked around, not daring to ask around. Then, i went to the back row, where 1 uncle and 2 aunties were sitting on a sofa. The third auntie was smiling brightly at me, while the others were looking here and there. That friendly smile kinda injected some strength in me. So i asked about her card. Guess what? It has the answer to my card! So, i became her 'partner' for the game.
Second game. A few person with their 'partners' have to line up, while one of the comittee member tells the last person in the line something. For example 'haging clothes'. The last person has to figure an action for it. And pass it on till the first person for the first person to guess what it is. my 'partner'
After that, we had lunch. Lunch consits of mee, bihun and chicken curry. Scrumptious meal.. I'm craving for some now..
so many bihun..
We had coffee break. Xinnan, Yi Suen and Zee Hsien and me were listening to a wise aunty. She spoke in English, telling us of how she has never gone to school. She told us that her parent's couldn't afford the school fees and that they died young. She also told us that she began to learn bahasa melayu at the age of 25. She told us to appreciate that we could go to schoool, and wear our beautiful St John ambulance uniform.
We went back and played the next game, 'passing of words'. Ming Yii passes a sentence from the start of the line and it goes through everyone in the room, and then, the last person in the line has to say it out loud. The effect is hilarious. First sentence, 'dui mian de nu hai kan guo lai' When passed to me, the third person in line, 'dui mian de nu er kan guo lai', at last, it turned to ' lei hou leng zai' ( you're very handsome ) in Cantonese. haha..
The next sentence, 'wo men zhuo bas qu Sri Lanka'(We are going to Sri Lanka by bus), turned into 'Wo men tah bas qu che suo' (We are going to the toilet by bus)That cracked everyone up..
After a group photo, we went home.
Fun and memorable Charity Trip. :DD

"Don't ever let yourself believe that the role you play in the lives of other's is not an important one, especially in the lives of the ones you love and who love you. No matter how big or small that role is, or may seem, it's a very important one, and it is one that only you can play." Don't underestimate yourself. Someone out there may need you. -David Archuleta

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
