25 Dec

Its Christmas! And its also my uncle's pre-wedding party. Or, as he likes to call it, his 'bachelor night'. Starting from tonight, the bride and groom cannot meet untill tomorrow morning. There was a buffet stlyed dinner and ais kacang at my grandma's house. I helped my uncle to scan the photos he needed for his slideshow. His friends and grandpa's beer drinking 'kaki-s' and our relatives stayed until 2 a.m. Chatting, drinking beer, etc. The food was excellent. Fried chicken, curry, bihun, pai-tee, jellies.. yum! Other than eating, i helped my uncle take photos with his new DSLR. I stayed up until 2 a.m. watching 'Santa Clause', and singing 'Twelve days of Christmas' Madagascar style.. with.. my brother. He started singing first, then, i found it catchy and sang along.. :P

Woke up at 7 a.m. Hastily got in the bathroom and changed into a green maxi skirt. All of us had a quick breakfast of curry puffs and milo. Uncle started the ceromony of thanking his parents and bringing them a cup of tea. Then, we hopped into the car and accompanied my uncle to his bride's house. Yep, the normal Chinese tradition. We went in the bride's (my aunt's) house first, and watched as my uncle and his 'heng dai' group did the tasks set my the 'sisters' of the bride. It was hilarious.. and my uncle was syok sendiri, acting crazy in front of the video camera of the professional videographer. He finally got through after giving the 'sisters; angpaus.. And then, the next group of 'sisters' was waiting for him outside the bride's room. He sang a song and they let him through. Then, he got his beautiful bride.. And started the praying and tea ceremony. After the tea ceremony, uncle and aunt went back to grandma's house. Again, prayers and tea ceremony. Then, the ones younger than my uncle got angpaus from him. Including me. I shook hands with them and had to adressed them. 'Niaochyuan', what i normally call my uncle. as for my aunt, his bride, i used to call her 'Diana jie jie'. So, i started asking grandma and the elders on how to address her. Various answers were given. And dad was kinda unhelpful, telling me in Hainanese.. 'kimnion' or whatever he said... I zsettled on 'Ah Kim'. We had lunch, then i went with mum, grandma, grandaunt and a few of my relatives to the hairdresser. They had a hairwash and the hairdresser blow dried their hair prettily. We got back, took a rest and then started to bathe and dress up. I wore a pretty brown dress with polka dots, a gift from my kai-ma. THen, kai-ma came to help with the makeup, and thus, mum and grandma was dolled up. Of all the wonders of the world, they thought of me. And i had makeup on too, the first time since.. i last performed onstage.. Everyone looked like fairies..

We went to the hotel and uh.. 'performed our duties' as the people sitting in front, taking names, showing tables. Me and Hui Jing ah-yi was in charge of showing guests to their tables.

and my brother looked great in his suit, and my cousins looked absolutely pretty..
and i looked kinda idiotic pinning that flower in the middle of my dress..

And for my uncle and aunt's wedding march, they used a Totoro song! which is special and so awesome.. btw both of them love Totoro and it was my uncle who first got the Totoro movie for me to watch when i was little.. :DD

me and my cousins.. if anyone is wondering why i look as red as a beetroot, i had one too many gulps of red wine.. so i look like a beetroot.. In other words , i am improving my blood circulation.. :)

Dinner was awesome.. Especially the prawn..
